1913 Armory Show forgeries

I’m starting to think about another glorious cultural event to be staged at Froggwell.  I’d like to propose another show of forgeries.  (If you are not overcome with feelings of nausea and disgust, please read on.)

I’m thinking to set a theme for this year’s event.  2011 will be the 98th anniversary of what was apparently a monumental and sensational show at the New York Armory.  (We could do this in 2013, but an ordinary idiot could organize a 100th anniversary show.)  The 1913 Armory show had about 1300 works by 300 artists.  (Not all Matisse and Picasso!)

The University of Virginia has a website that shows and discusses the 1913 event:  http://xroads.virginia.edu/~museum/armory/entrance.html

I would plan to stage this the first weekend in August 2011.  Same basic business plan:  you make lots of money selling your forgeries, and I take 20%.  If we have enough strength, we could rock the Island again with a reception.
